Hey Chad, 1. With Redshift it will roll over (out-of-core) to system ram once the vram is filled, which does slow the performance down (though its still faster than cpu rendering). As an example when I was comparing a 780 (3Gb) to a titan (6Gb) on smaller scenes they were fairly evenly matched, on

Depends on which card you end up going with. But even a 970 x 4 will draw 900 leaving you with 600 room for the rest. And that could be fine initially. But consider the fact that power supply ubits become less efficient over time and will start to output less wattage. On Thu, Aug 6, 2015, 6:31 AM

You don't need anything bigger as a matter of fact I'm running that exact PSU for 4x Titan X, and before them it was pushing 4x Titans. Nothing more is needed. 1200W is cutting it a bit too close but 1500 is perfectly enough. On Thu, Aug 6, 2015 at 1:31 PM, Morten Bartholdy wrote: > Thanks guys

The conversation was aimed towards renderfarms rather than workstations though, and I imagine running a render job per gpu rather than per node, so that the scaling per gpu is much better (ie 100% minus maybe a small hit on the cpu usage being shared). Could be run headless so no need for a display

The 970 is the most cost efficient only with scenes that fit into its memory - which using redshift is limited to 3.5Gb because of the internal memory architecture. I'd recommend looking at gpus with 6Gb or higher. The 980ti is a great card for the money, and the extra vram will help performance ev

I just mentioned that as well, btw is not SLI, SLI needs to be turned off when rendering with Redshift but it is rendering with all cards. But you can always send to render using 1 or 2 GPUs per frame which removes scaling issues and give you all the power per node. On Wed, Aug 5, 2015 at 12:51 PM
