Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Tidal Problem "Connection Reset by Local Host"
Thoughts or suggestions? Get Vortexbox out of the equation. Install LMS on your PC and try again. Does it work? The fact that you said: > Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.1 - 0.7.20180404git1522249619 > @ Mon May 14 10:51:59 EDT 2018 (known good with Tidal as it solved an > issue others were having). Makes me wonder why Vortexbox would have required a LMS update to fix a TIDAL issue, when others didn't is Vortexbox using some customized LMS? Did you check transcoding settings? What is FLAC streaming set to? Are there any other plugins which might be fiddling with transcoding in order to "improve" the streaming? -- Michael ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Tidal Problem "Connection Reset by Local Host"
No, Vortexbox is just a custom OS based on Fedora23 to specifically be used to run LMS with built-in auto ripping and tagging or CDs or DVDs. It uses regular LMS like every other server. But you said you had to install some LMS build to fix a TIDAL related issue. And I'm not aware of a recent change doing so. The last change related to FLAC on TIDAL was back in October 2017. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Squeezebox Classic hanging consistently when trying to access Plugin
Is there a code repo for Spotty, where I can view the update you made? I'm sorry, no. I started to use my own subversion repository years back before github et al. were a thing... probably even before git was a thing for us normal humans :-) I'm curious what the issue was and how you worked around it. Long story short: stupid me. A few weeks/months back I re-wrote the token-fetching to be non-blocking, as I had reports of Spotty locking up LMS for a long time when there were networking issues causing the token lookup to fail. That re-write unfortunately didn't work on Windows. So I had to revert back to using the old code on Windows. But the smart guy I am I tried to re-use some of the new code instead. And simply forgot to add a line to actually return the token under these circumstances... As the token, once received, would be cached locally, the lock-up would only happen once the token had expired and a new one needed to be fetched (thus the 1h delay). Didn't see anything when looking here: https://github.com/michaelherger/spotty Yeah, that's only the spotty helper part, but not the plugin code. The "database locked" issue would probably happen if you tried to play something before the scan had completed. I thought I had addressed this in 7.9, but maybe there still is an edge case. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Installing on a NAS
Can anyone advise me on what type NAS I should get, and how to install LMS on it? I think Synology currently has the best support for LMS. They have an "official" package (provided by Synology, but slightly outdated), as well as good community support. And IMHO they do a great job keeping their products up to date in terms of firmware, even years after the product release (I have a 2012 model which still gets updates!). But as others mentioned: it's probably simpler to have a Raspberry Pi to run LMS, while using the NAS as the music file store only. It's likely better supported if you wanted to install one of the more advanced LMS plugins requiring some external helper application etc. (eg. Spotty ;-)). If you add (cant really remember the exact number) something like 5 without a scan that can happen. Thanks for the tip! There's quite a lot of folders - do you know why adding a bunch at once would eat up so much memory? The only reason that comes to mind (as a programmer) are that the scan is done multithreaded, and each thread is allocating lots of memory per tree descent. But even so... seems a little much. As bpa mentioned LMS isn't using that much memory. You're not running low. And what DJanGo presents as a fact, is just something he wrote. Don't take it for granted. LMS is single threaded. Feel free to write a plugin for this... But really: there are enough tools out there to do this once for good. Why would you want the scanner to re-do this (or even check for changes) upon every scan? It would add considerable overhead to every scan. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS - Qobuz and playlists
Anyone familiar with the problem? Is there a solution? The only solution would be a code change in the Qobuz plugin itself. In API.pm you'd find the USERDATA_LIMIT constant which is set to 500. I do NOT recommend doing this, as it might result in you being banned from accessing their service. Services like this usually limit the number of items per request on their end as large queries could use a lot of processing power and memory. Assuming you create those huge mixes so you can shuffle them I'd suggest you look into using LastMix instead. This plugin would automatically and dynamically add new tracks to your list, based on what you've been playing before. It's not perfect, but can give you decent mixes which last for hours or days. -- Michael ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS and SSL Encryption (Valid Certificate)

Now I’m totally confused, again by these rules. The problem I described above was totally in the plugin that was answering true to ‘canTranscode’ method when obviously it should not. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Documentation for the LMS scan process?
Is there any documentation for the LMS scan process showing how it uses tags in music files and/or m3u playlists when it is building or rebuilding its music access menus? Not really, no. The reason I ask is that I'm using the Asunder CD ripper to populate my LMS music library with tracks from CDs I own. Asunder evidently uses a crowd-sourced database to deduce the artist(s), CD and track titles. This works well, but it isn't consistent, e.g. the entries for most J.J.Cale CDs identify him as "J.J. Cale" but "Shades" uses "Cale, J.J". It returns tracks named "nn Artist Album track.flac" in a directory named "Artist Album" and puts a playlist called "Artist Album.flac.m3u" in the directory along with the tracks. That's the "ARTISTSORT" tag being set to a different value. This messes up the lists displayed by LMS. I'd much prefer it to use the same scheme as I'm using to file the music. LMS uses tags first, only if that fails it would try to guess information from the folder and file names. You better get your tags cleaned up. -- Michael ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Why do all my file paths start with tmp:/// ?
Turns out that it's apparently not a problem with trackstat but with LMS itself. Cause I noticed that it's using the path Plugins::TrackStat::Storage::saveTrack (1020) No matching alternative path found for file:///c/media/Music ... for all songs. Where does the tmp come from? You'd get the tmp prefix if you played tracks using the "Browse Filesystem" rather than any of the other browser modes, in particular not "Browse Musicfolder": The first is designed to play items without adding them to the library. Therefore there's no link to any item stored in the database. You'd have to play tracks one of the other ways. But the tmp prefix should never be used eg. in an import. It's only really being used if you play stuff without adding it to the library. -- Michael ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Why do all my file paths start with tmp:/// ?

But that worked with 7.6.5. Has something changed in 7.9.2 that might cause the mismatch? You better start or join a Trackstat related thread. I'm not familiar with the plugin, therefore can't say what's wrong. But there are many users of that plugin out there.
