With 7.8 you create 3 folders. FLAC, MP3, now - point LMS at now &
FLAC. Everything you currently have goes in now. Everything that you rip

make for smart phones etc. You just don't point LMS at mp3

I think that the Onkyo has both optical and coaxial inputs.
You usually have a choice as to how to connect the TV (audio wise) if it

Not familiar with either router. Post links to their manuals and I'll

Neither router will do the site to site VPN stuff.
If you have a techie tell him what it is you want to do and he can
explain the options.
The reason he set the static is similar so he should know what to do.

Yes but ideally you need a site to site VPN. If you haven't got routers
that will do that then the next level of security down is static IPs at
both ends. Here you set up port forwarding rules on your router to allow
traffic from his end into your server. You limit access to his IP only.

Just get a new router that includes a VPN server. Draytek Vigor 28xx or

ISP or setup a Dynamic DNS account.
No port forwarding is then required.
You connect to your router via the VPN and then your server is available

You said squeezelite in one post and squeezesoft in another. Do you mean
either of those ?
If you can't get to the command line id think about uninstalling
whichever it is and replace with Squeezeplay which is Squeezelite with a
control gui.

I use the mechanism in iPeng to post to Twitter which auto posts to
Facebook. I use share and copy as and sometimes go into the "on spotify"
then do the share which posts a playable link
I also use it to post into what are you listening to now on this forum
It's one of the best extra features

A user doesn't have to be logged in. A service (LMS) runs as long as the
machine is switched on.

Not having much luck are you?
I don't use a ReadyNAS so can't help here except to say my
recommendation would be to get a Raspberry Pi and run LMS on that but
keep the music files on the NAS. Relatively easy and avoids all the
firmware incompatibility issues.

See Phillipe's Castbridge thread in 3rd Party Software but the answers
are yes.
The only downsides are that Chromecast is Wireless only and limited to
16/44.1 but the latter may now have changed to 24/96
