GS I have a person who I email regularly. Emails that I initiate, get
GS through to him, but if I reply to one of his emails he doesn't
GS receive it.

GS He is confident that this is only happening with emails from me, and as far
GS as I can make out this is only happening when I reply to emails from
GS him. Replying to anyone elses emails get through.

GS Has anyone any idea what might be happening here, and is there any
GS chance that I have set up something weird in The Bat! that might be
GS causing this problem.

Do they bounce back to you or disappear? What's different about your
reply template to your new message template? If they are disappearing
it sounds as thought there is something in the headers that is setting
of a spam filter on a server which is taking the message, but if it is
only doing that on the replies it suggests something about the
template that is different. Does anyone you mail use the same mail
host/ISP?

Claude Few TB versions ago it was possible as far as I remember to associate
Claude shortcuts to view modes, and if my memory serves me well, there were
Claude associated with shortcuts such as alt+shift+1, alt+shift+2 etc.
Claude Currently it is not possible to quickly switch from view mode to view
Claude mode with a single keystroke.
Claude Is it possible to regain this function or should it be added as a future
Claude feature
for TB ?

There are two options I think. I think you can set shortcuts for view
modes in viewtoolbarscustomiseshortcutsviewGlobal view mode or
you can change the method of threading a message by the following

· None - no threading, all messages are shown individually. Alt + 0

· References - uses two header fields, In-Reply-To and References,
which both contain unique Message ID's. Alt + 1

· Subject - threads are made up of messages with the same subject line
(minus the Re: for replies). Alt + 2

· Sender - threads by the name/address in the From header. Alt + 3

· Recipient - threads by the name/address in the To header. Alt + 4

But i'm not sure thats what you meant. But thats all I know.

Maintance centre

2006-09-23 Thread Ben Allen
Howdy Flying Rodent fans,

My maintaince centre just did something very strange. I set it to
purge and compress two very bloated folders that i didnt feel the
need to keep anymore. So I selected the folders and set the bat off
to do its work. It said that it only went through one folder, and
compressed the messages. It actually went through both. Just seems a
little odd to me that it recognised how many messages it purged but
not how many folders it did this in.

Deleting a message in a folder is just setting flag which tells TB
not to display them. to actually get them deleted from the database,
you need to compress. That's the way it works.

M It would be good if the compress on exit option in folder
M properties achieved this.

Thomas It does. Alas, compressing takes 20 minutes over on my office computer
Thomas with almost 200,000 mails in over 100 folders, I'd rather do it
Thomas manually. Usually in the lunch break, as in the evening when I shut
Thomas down TB and the rest of my computer, I just want to go home. I don't
Thomas recommend using compress on exit to anyone, but maybe you have
Thomas faster computers on your side of the Globe.

I use compress on exit. Takes a minute or two to complete. Especially
after I went through my excess mail and got rid of it. One thing I
have noticed with compress on exit: If you turn off your computer
before you shut down TB then it still tries to process folders, and
windows thinks the program is not responding. SO it comes up with an
End Now screen. You can ignore it and TB will shut as normal, or you
can click end now and shut down a bit quicker. Dont think its a bug as
such, just doesnt seem like ideal behaviour.

MFPA in old or American texts (except for some reason in the past
MFPA tense, -ized was much in evidence).

MFPA A couple of decades later and -ize has gained in popularity once
MFPA more. I remain convinced this is due to dodgy spell-checkers. ;-)

Its one of those interesting things with languages... especially the
English Language, which lets face it has borrowed words and phrases
from most languages (French, Latin, Saxon etc etc.), that they are in
a permanent state of flux. To the best of my knowledge the suffix -ize
is Americanism, but it did exist in one or two words in the English
version of English. It's basically a different dialect of the same
language. However to put American spellings in the British English

TANNERSVILLE, NY - Scientists have discovered that your nose DOES grow
when you lie. Head researcher Toby Flemming explained, You've
probably noticed that people's noses get bigger as they get older.
That's because old people are huge liars. You don't know that they're
lying most of the time because they're so experienced at it.
Explained Flemming, The typical married male's proboscis grows 15%
over his lifetime just from agreeing with his wife in the hope that it
will make her stop talking.

I just thought I would say before going to bed that I like Version 3
and am happy with it. I have paid for it already. I also agree that
a little bit more (or any) forewarning would have been nice.

I would expect that RIT will deal with real complaints on an
individual basis rather than issuing a blanket statement referring
  to individual circumstances.

A question (which may incite people against me, but i gonna ask

answer each of your questions in your emails or to fix the bugs that
exist and implement the features that you want?

rich I've been over over all my settings with this support list and still
rich no good.

rich Now on 2.04.7. It didn't work earlier either though.

My folder limiting works. In the folder properties i set for example
tb list folders to 500msgs and 10 days. Every once in a while i will
manually run folder-maintenance, select purge old/exceeding messages
and it purges them to a folder, called old, for each of them (which is
compressed) . Then not a one of the list folders is over the limit.

However I haven't quite been able to get the folders to purge
themselves automatically, even though the options to purge and
compress upon closing TB! is enabled which is why i do it manually,

Yes it is possible to delete messages in the ticker. I personally
like to use the tried and tested delete key ;oÞ. This seem to refresh
the ticker, so some new messages may appear

Robin The problem is that Ben _doesn't_ sort by time received, he sorts by
Robin subject.

Robin I usually sort by time (actually time created rather than time received)
Robin and have old messages at the top and new messages at the bottom. However
Robin when I tried sorting by subject I was able to duplicate what Ben sees -
Robin within each thread the messages are sorted in reverse chronological
Robin order: new messages at the top and older ones below that.

Robin I suspect there is no way around that.

There is a way. If you sort by subject then hold ctrl and click on
received it sorts the list by subject and received date. What i was
wondering was if there is a way to do this automatically. I dont think
there is though so hey

Robin I didn't realise that! How did you find out? Trial and error, or is it
Robin actually in the help file somewhere?

No, i think i learnt it from Databases... Some allow you to do that
exact thing if you hold down ctrl and click... so as a mailbase is
just a database i guess i thought i would try and i did like the
result.. hence this thread.

What i was wondering was if there is a way to do this automatically. I
dont think there is though so hey

Robin Actually, I have experimented, and I think you can. If you create a new
Robin view mode that is sorted by subject and apply it to the folder, then use
Robin the CTRL-click method to add the second sort to that, it will remember
Robin that. Anytime you apply that view mode to another folder - voila, it
Robin works!

Robin Unfortunately it does forget the second sort if you ever go into manage
Robin view modes and edit this particular one - so the moral is, once you have
Robin set it up, don't try to edit it.

A good moral, if it works dont touch it. Thanks to all

Steve Yeah, no one else is having this problem.

Steve Re-install Windows? My god. Clearly hoped it wouldn't come to that as
Steve it represents a logistical nightmare (as I'm sure you appreciate) as
Steve the machine acts as a pseudo server to the rest of the machines on
Steve the LAN and as such, contains all our company documents etc, mail
Steve server, act as a print server etc.

Steve Still, I'm due to be leaving the company next week so can probably get
Steve away with leaving (ignoring) it.

Mine does the same job as yours, and it was working fine until i came
into the office one morning and got desperate looks from people after
it had failed on a reboot routine and someone had put the windows
recovery disk in... That gave me a days work.
