That worked on my home computer (thanks, I never knew this option!)
but not on this laptop. There is something wrong with it anyway: I
have no icons on the desktop and taskbar shortcuts. So I just
re-downloaded TB! and installed it again - it asked whether I want to
repair, and I confirmed. No change.

Anyway, small icons are a small issue, not a big deal. Thanks for your
help anyway.

2018-03-07 Thread Thomas Fernandez
Hello Tbudl,

I did something, and now all the icons ("Get New Mail", "Send Queued

have just the icons, and now there is the text under the icons, making

I also seem to remembers that I chose those icons without text many
years ago, so there must be a way to change them.

Any ideas are appreciated.

I use XP not Vista and I sometimes get two - the extra one has a TB!
logo and is labelled Loading anti-virus plug-ins. This is usually
the first thing to appear when I load TB!, a split second before the
splash screen appears. About 80-90% of the time, it disappears when
TB! has started and is populating the numbers of messages in the
folder tree. When it stays, nothing will get rid of it except closing
TB! - clicking or right-clicking it does nothing. The extra button has
no detriment apart from added clutter - TB! and the anti-virus
scanning of incoming and outgoing mails work as expected whether it
stays there or not, so I don't worry about it. My anti-virus is
the free version of Avast 4.8.

I had a similar issue one time. It was fixed by right clicking the

see they are no longer grayed out - go change it back if you want the
large icons - chalk it up to BAT MYSTICISM. lol

Does Rick's solution actually fixes the [delete]-key not working as

I had a similar issue one time. It was fixed by right clicking the

Icons for files in attachment pane

2006-05-23 Thread Philippe Macaire
Hi all,

I noticed that sometimes the icons showing in the attachment pane do
not match the corresponding file type. For instance (see attached
image), an EML file is shown with an MS Project icon. In some rare
occasions it does not show at all.

I suspected my Windows XP SP2 to be corrupted in some way, but had it
installed from scratch a couple of months ago, and it did not change
anything to this behavior.

Does it happen to anybody else?

Thank you.

Confirmed. It sometimes happens and sometimes not. PDF attachment is
shown with EML icon, DOC file with DAT icon, etc.

I have experienced this on both my machines (work and home), running
XP SP2, since upgrading to 3.80.03.

PM Does it happen to anybody else?

Yes. But since it doesn't happen all the time (only on some days), I
was looking for a pattern before reporting it. It's not really
important for myself, so I didn't even try restarting Windows, but
others might be more serious about it.

If so is there a place I can choose a proper icon?

This posting violated the list rules regarding top posting.

Top posting, i.e., typing all your reply text at the top of your
message and following it with all quoted text below, is not
encouraged and we actually request that you not do so on this list
because

a) It makes it difficult to glean context from what you typed at the
   top of the message

and

b) It encourages excessive quoting.

We would much prefer if you quote just that much of the message to
which you're replying, so we know what it is you're referring to,
and then below the quotation, type your response. If you're
responding to more than one part of the original, then quote each
part separately and follow each part with your response.

Now, I know that you may not personally prefer this format and that
you may disagree with some of the reasoning here. We very much
respect this. However, this is the format that most of the active
members here prefer and all members are expected, and are being
asked to use the format that will make most of the active membership
here comfortable reading. You'll likely get a more responsive group
when you post using a style that is comfortable for them to read and
understand.

It's definitely not a graphics card problem. I've tested four

to be more related to W2K SP4.

Hello AJ,

Is it possible to make the icons smaller, or alternatively replace them
 with another (smaller..) set.

you can change the size, by changing the following lines in the
Batskin.xml:

sizes
size id=MenuIcons width=16 height=16 /
size id=ToolbarIcons width=32 height=32 /
size id=Buttons width=32 height=32 /
size id=WorkIcons width=16 height=16 /
size id=ListIcons width=24 height=16 /
size id=Folders width=16 height=16 /
size id=Controls width=16 height=16 /
size id=AddrBook width=20 height=20 /
size id=BigIcons width=32 height=32 /
/sizes

e.g. size id=ToolbarIcons width=22 height=22 /

If you need the Batskin.xml you can download it here, and put it into
the working directory (same place as thebat.exe):

Small icons again... Solved!

2005-05-15 Thread AJ Blisten
Hi all,

I did as Miroslav suggested and the icons became smaller, but they're still
big when I start The Bat! from the desktop icon. The icons are small when I
start The Bat! from quick bar shortcut AND the short cut under Start |
Programs | ... It doesn't help if I replace the desk top icon with the one
in quick launch bar or under Start | Programs | ... Whatever I do they're
still big...

Why is that...? Strange behaviour, if you ask me...

Ok, forget it! I created a NEW shortcut (from thebat.exe in the
directory...) and they all show snmall icons now!

Hello AJ,

Why is that...? Strange behaviour, if you ask me...

I assume you have a further 'Batskin.XML' file on the desktop?
If not, examine the shortcut. If in the TheBat! shortcut the entry is
missing in the field: Execute in: , TheBat! is looking on the desktop
for an existing 'Batskin.XML'. If no file is present on the desktop, the
internal 'Batskin.XML' is loaded. That's why it works with shortcut from
the working directory, here the path is registered.

Why more elegant? I assume this will be possible from Customise when it

although at that time the options was greyed out and not usable.

Yes, I did notice that at one time. I just meant that his was a more
comprehensive approach for now until they get this working in
customise. In the long run, this is one of the things that needs to be
addressed in customise, as well a search function, a way to add icons
and conflict resolver. But the first thing to add is all the menu
choices, like View/Display/Only Unread Messages.

BTW I got this idea of being repetitive from you and your Thread by

Bitmap IDs in external batskin.xml must be different than 0,1 and 2,
these are reserved numbers for internal batskin.xml now.

shortcut Ctrl+= to show all messages if I want to see everything.

Again, thanks for a good tip and thanks in general for your advice on this
list! I think many people appreciate your effort here.

However, I still think this is a UI design flaw. Nothing fatal but
annoying. It could just have been done better.

Mine too, but if you've turned threaded views on and one message at the
end of a thread is unread, all previous messages are bold, too.

I find with threaded messages that the Subject column is all I can
see anyway...

Yes. I read my mails threaded, too - and the one single heaviest used
keyboard shortcut (the day will come I'll have to re-paint the involved
keycaps) is CTRL-ALT left/right to jump to the next/previous unread
message (the threads are expanded automatically when you move thru the
unread mails that way).

When I end up in a thread I don't want/need to read I press CTRL-Shift-M to
mark the entire thread as read. Thats why I don't care very much about the
icons, in fact I could do completely without them... hmmm... now thats an
idea... :-)

message flags icons

2004-10-16 Thread Roman Katzer
Hello list,

the icons for unread vs. read mail in the message flags column are very
similar and thus hard to tell apart. Bad UI, no cookie!
Is there a way of changing them?

Re: message flags icons

2004-10-16 Thread MAU
Hello Richard,

I have to agree with you that it would be nice to have different colours
if possible so that they stand out more. At the moment you have to look
for them and they can't be distinguished with peripheral vision.

I agree with you here. I like the new icon set as a whole but, in my
case, I have trouble with the different shades of blue in the folder
tree. I'd like to change those quite different colours.

Until the new line of icons was added I used my own modified glyph set
so could do what I wanted but I'm not quite good enough to add the new
icons needed so am using those that come with TB! and would like to have
the facility to customise them myself, eg change colours etc.

You can still use your old glyph set. You will only miss 5 icons in the
Sorting Office that were added quite recently for:

  New Filter
  Move Up
  Move Down
  Move In
  Move Out

I don't think anyone would use those options very often and anyhow they
are available from the right-click context menu and the File and Edit
top menus.

Colouring folder icons

2004-10-14 Thread John Phillips

Hi Bat! Fans,

Is it possible yet (coming real soon) to colour folder icons?

To make myself clear, I have as an example a folder called Software, under
which are many sub-folders - Bat!, Micro$haft, etc. etc.

I would like to colour the top level folder icon, to make it stand out from
the list of folders.

Any way yet of doing this at all?

No, but you could assign a colour group to it. This would achieve the
