So to summon it up: It was supposed to be removed from the menu altogether and be replaced by the Screen Resolution Tool. The tool was put in place as a replacement of displayconfig-gtk under SystemPreferences However, displayconfig-gtk wasn't removed from the menu it was moved to

Ok, it seems that this bug is caused by a wrong select of codec by some programs. So far I managed to get Ekiga working by switching to the V4L protocol (by default it was set to V4L 2). If no one else runs into the same problem this one can be closed. -- Hardy: Phillips webcam drivers not
