I have a ATi Radeon 9200 video card and I too had this problem with the
7.04 beta (not with edgy). The problem appeared both when booting from
the live cd and when running it for the HDD. The 16 bit color depth hack
worked for me too.

I just noticed the problem as well. There is about 5 seconds delay when
ssh to a local server. After changing GSSAPIAuthentication yes to
GSSAPIAuthentication no in /etc/ssh/ssh_config, ssh login is almost
instantaneous.

Wow!Even i got my hdd workin properly.
Steps Followed:
1.Setting BIOS to factory defaults
2.changing hda-sda in /boot/grub/device.map
3.update-initramfs -u
4.grub-install /dev/sda
After all this; i shutdown the computer and remove the power cable

Well, i found that when i restarted ubuntu, my wireless card connected
to unencrypted network at last, but when i connect to an encrypted
network and try to get back to the unencrypted one it doesn't work, so i
have to restart in order to connect to an unencrypted network :S.

It appears that this problem has been solved.
I use the following packages and KVM works fine:
* linux-image-2.6.20-13-generic 2.6.20-13.21
* kvm 16-1ubuntu1

I can confirm the bug, and say that for me it only happens since 3 or 4
days ago, before the speed was ok and i was current with all upgrades
daily. Hope that helps to locate the bug.

I'm not an expert, but I'd try adding these two lines to /etc/apt/apt.conf:
DPkg::Pre-Invoke {mount -o remount,exec /tmp;};
DPkg::Post-Invoke {mount -o remount /tmp;};
This should remount /tmp as exec long enough for preconfigure packages
with apt, then remount again as noexec after

Sorry for the latest message.
I'm now running the LiveCD to check if it is the case on the default
system, where only cupsys-driver-gutenprint is installed. The driver
indeed seems to be present:
