I think that the instructions are not exactly clear, but you can indeed have
hyperlinks in a OOo2.4 Writer document.
To insert a link you have to enclose in the TOC structure the part you want
to be hyperlinked between the markers LS (link start) and LE (link ends).

Yes, it does help a lot! I was using commas instead of semicolons and was
looking at a filtered list of functions. The expression I had was
=CHAR(MOD(A1,26)+64) and when I got the error I clicked on the Fx function

this. It is a fine piece of software.

inconvienent functionality action. You can discontinue the numbering system,
but as soon as you do so and then type another number, it will continue
