If you really like the 1/8 masking tape, check the autobody supply
sources.
Or a local repair/custom paint shop.
My father worked in autobody repair most of his life. He had masking tape
in a lot of sizes.

Sounds good Chuck. One extra step I do to help secure the mono is to
flatten the end
with a pair of flat-nosed pliers from my radio building bench. Probalby
not necessary
with superglue. But as Tony says: Everybody should do what pleases
them.

There have been some people who have put on the the scuba gear
and observed trout feeding and what they see underwater.

Sorry you lost so much. Last week my computer went into a continous
rebooting
loop. Luckily, a computer guy at work got it back to working correctly.

I remember one New Year's Day when it was 25 below and we could only
fish for about 10 to 15 minutes before going back into the car and running
the heater wide open until we were warm enough to go back out. But between
four of us we caught over a 100 perch that day. Then

I have done something similar with 8-1/2 x 11 page protectors. Only I
put in all the materials
needed for a certain fly. Hooks and dubbings are put in small zip loc bags
and then into the
page protector. I label each page and it makes things easier when I
want to tie something
like a White

I just remembered that St. Croix used make pool cues too. My wife has one

I think all trout fishermen have had some version of your experience.
It really
gets to you when the fish are doing splashy rises ( caddis emergers ?)
within feet of your feet. Even knowing what they're after doesn't always
help.

I've gotten a lot of colored fine wire from the motors of bad computer hard
drives.
They have a coating that keeps them brigtht .
I have done most of the scrounging that others have mentioned for
