freezing when he tried to look at his stations list. I don't use Pandora often,

I’m running an imac with Yosemite 10.3 which I installed upgrading from 10.2 a
couple days ago.
Everything is working okay, but I seem to have lost my mail notification sound
fro new incoming mail.
I looked in system preferences for mail and see that ping is checked as it
should be.
I've found that Mail does that from time to time. If I close Mail and re-open
it, the sound returns. I don't know why this happens, and no other app has this
problem.
