I just wanted to say that I concur with Ed in that I am a huge fan of Seeing
Eye GPS.
While I am so grateful to the developer of Blind Square, for such a marvelously
comprehensive app, I find that, for day-to-day navigation on busses and in
taxis, etc, I use Seeing Eye more often.

constantly updated. How old is the most recent Trekker map update, at best they
are released once a year if I remember correctly.
I also would hazard a guess and say that the iPhone's GPS receiver is very good
that change are the
POI's but I have 4square for that.

Hi, all.
I usually use the Trekker Breeze as a GPS, but I'm interested in trying some
of the paid GPS apps like Blind Squared or the Seeing Eye GPS.
How do these apps manage data? For example, how much data would I use for a
45 minute walk around a semi residential/business neighborhood
Blind Square and Seeing Eye GPS do use data because they ping a server for
realtime location data. I believe that they only download the data that they
actually need as you move along. An app like Navigon stores its maps on the
device, so has much less need to pull data from an online server
i as a totally
blind person am unable to do that. All i want is to be informed of eventual
POIs, intersections, get turn-by-turn instructions etc rather like gps apps are
supposed to do. Recording alternate routes to those suggested by the gps app is
a plus, but creating a whole map myself
and setup before you're ready to go.
Also Loadstone can give you some extra GPS info if you're geeky about that.
In any case this would be another GPS nav provided by people that were on the
market before the touch era and their take at the app in this new world could
be an interesting perspective
