Hi I got mine to work what I did was tap on the edit box that asks for your phone number. So I put that in with area code first and then went and pout in my password and then put in my e-mail address. Then once I had all of that entered in. I hit done and then tapped on next and then it worked

I agree with Christopher. If I'm remembering correctly, the focus issue with the native Mail app started with some iteration of iOS 13. I started using Outlook for iOS then and am so glad I did. It doesn’t have the focus issues and I've used Outlook on my Windows desktop for years.
