RE: my SE3 not allowing me to get app updates

2024-06-12 Thread Richard Turner
I suggest it may be time to call Apple.
This makes less than no sense.

Yep, I've been there too.
I go into settings, wi-Fi and toggle it off and back on.
When it reconnects, then I try again. 99% of the time, that resolves it.

Are you sure you are connected to the internet?

I don't download over cellular, so I have to be on Wi-Fi to check for, and get
updates.

I use the triple tap on the app store icon, then flick right to updates and
double tap.

Then, sometimes, have to do the three finger swipe down to refresh the screen.

When I go to my account screen, I am unable to check for updates. When I get to
the place where I should see my recent updates, all I get is the "sign out"
button. I am asked to sign out but when I do and re-sign in, aI am back where I
was. Any ideas. My wife's phone worked fine.

RE: Where is the setting so app updates Will download an update on their own

2020-12-21 Thread Dennis Long
That is exactly what I am saying. Once you upgrade that app if there is a
problem your screwed. So this is why I would set app updates to manual. Then
you have the control over what gets updated and when. No I am not saying don't
ever update them.

I'm sure Dennis isn't saying people shouldn't upgrade their apps at all. I
assume he's saying people might want to wait until they hear from others that
the upgrade is OK before they upgrade their apps themselves, at least for their
most important apps.

RE: Where is the setting so app updates Will download an update on their own

2020-12-21 Thread chalt...@outlook.com
I'm sure Dennis isn't saying people shouldn't upgrade their apps at all. I
assume he's saying people might want to wait until they hear from others that
the upgrade is OK before they upgrade their apps themselves, at least for their
most important apps.

RE: Where is the setting so app updates Will download an update on their own

2020-12-20 Thread Simon A Fogarty
And why is that an issue?

If you were to just stay with the same OS and apps all the time without
updating
You'd go no where quickly,
Infact it wouldn't take long for your apps to stop working on the older os
version you run.

Without the trialing of new apps or new os you'll go backwards quickly.

No adventure
To me equals a very shelterd and boring life.

Just one more note about the new iPhone SE.
It downloads updates to apps amazingly fast.
App updates that could take a couple minutes, now take seconds.

RE: App updates:

2019-09-29 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
You can do it via the Context menu which you can get when you swipe down on
the app Store icon, but you can also do this:

1. Double tap the App Store icon so the App Store opens, it will “today,
Sunday, September 29 heading”, of course the date changes
2. Flick right once and you hear “My Account”, if there were say 3 updates, you
would hear ‘My account, 3 updates available button”.
3. Double tap on the My Account button, you are now on the same screen where
you are if you select “Show context menu” from the rotor and double tap on
“Updates”.

For me what I describe above is quicker and involves less gestures, here is an
exact listing of the gestures involved in both methods, I assume you have
located and put focus on the App Store app either way:

The rotor method:
1. Flick up once to Show context menu
2. Double tap
3. Swipe right
4. Swipe Right
5. Swipe right
6. Swipe right, you are now on Updates
7. Double tap, you are now on the Updates screen and you can touch just above
the home button or near the bottom of the screen to find the updates section.
If instead of swiping right 4 times you touch the screen about at the level of
the volume buttons and you land on Updates first try it is this:
1. Flick up once to Show context menu
2. Double tap
3. Touch the screen about at the level of where the volume buttons are,
Voiceover says “Update”, if you are lucky to land on it
4. Double tap, you are now on the Updates screen and you can touch just above
the home button or near the bottom of the screen to find the updates section.

The other method I described above:
1. Double tap on the App Store
2. Swipe right once to “My account”
3. Double tap, you are now on the Updates screen and you can touch just above
the home button or near the bottom of the screen to find the updates section.

You can see that even if you land on “Updates” when you touch the screen it
takes one less gesture to get to the updates screen if you simply open the App
Store and flick right once to My account.
Previously we had to open the App Store, locate the Updates tab at the bottom
and double tap it, now you simply flick right once to My Account instead of
locating the Updates tab and double tap.
I tried asking SIRI things like “Open Updates”, Open App Updates”, “Go to My
account”, “Go to App store Updates” and “Go to App Store My account”, but
either it didn’t know at all what to do or it simple opened the App Store where
again I landed on the Today screen and I had to flick right once to My Account
so no way to use SIRI unless maybe you could make a Shortcut which would open
the App Store and go to My Account and you could launch it with a phrase like
“Go to my app updates”.

Regards,
Sieghard

to “Show Context menu”, then double tap, then flick right 4 times to get to

Then, you will find the update all and a number of apps that have updates.
You can either update all, or go through and update only the ones you want by

Michael,
I didn't say anything about settings.
I just re-read my message.
Regina gave good instructions that are abut the same as what I said, just
worded a little differently.
To be extra clear though, the updates tab at the bottom of the App Store no
longer exists.
It has been replaced with their new Arcade stuff for those who want to play
lots of games...
If you do open the app store app first, you then need to find the My Account
button that is near the top of the screen in some of those tabs.
When you double tap the My Account button, you will be in the screen that the
other methods got you to much more easily.

I hope this helps. It can be rather confusing when Apple changes really basic
things like App updates.

Re: App updates:

2019-09-28 Thread Michael McKay
Hi! Richard:

I apologize. Little bit confused here with this new update. Actually you go
into the App Store it used to have updates at the bottom of the screen from
what I understand him when I tapped on that I could go into the list of apps
that needed to be updated that’s where I’m having the problem not in the
settings app sorry there is no the option for updates anymore that’s what I’m
wondering about so I don’t know which one to tap twice on and hold. Could you
please Let me know how to get through it so that I can bring up that specific
area. Sorry again for the confusion.

Re: App updates:

2019-09-28 Thread Richard Turner
When wanting to check to see about app updates, you can double tap and hold on
the App store icon, or flick up with one finger and double tap on show context
menu.
Then, flick right until you get to update, and double tap.
There is extra stuff on this screen, but touch around the middle of the screen
and do a three finger swipe down to get it to refresh the screen.
Since iOS 12, it has helped to refresh the screen for any updates that might
not show at first.
Then, flick right through to where it says available updates.
Then, you will find the update all and a number of apps that have updates.
You can either update all, or go through and update only the ones you want by
selecting them individually.

HTH,

Richard

Mark

I found out what the problem was: I don't understand it but I had only 3
apps left in my library without erasing anything.
I went to my folder of all mobile apps and added them to my library again
and now all seems to work fine again.

Apple continues to update iTunes for business and individual apps continue
to be updated from within the latest version, in Windows.

For the latest version of iTunes for business, go to:

After installing, individual apps should continue to be updated.

Hi folks

I am still running itunes 12.6.4 with appstoren embedded.

Since 18 March, I notice that except for some popular apps like fb and
messenger the library of apps is nolonger updating itselves when I ask it
to do so while chosing apps and updates.
Most of my apps are from this date updated. I use that old itunes because I
can get back to previous app updates when some updates would include
accessibility regressions.
It seems like Apple is nolonger supporting app updates even not in this old
itunes especially issued for business environements so that people can still
have an appstore on their itunes?

Any iedeas?

Hi,
Settings, iTunes app store, and turn on updates.

Sent from a BrailleNote

- Original Message -
From: Richard Turner I did not know that free apps didn't update automatically, but
then again, I do not use automatic updates.
Case in point, Dropbox seriously broke their app with the last
update.
Fortunately, I had not synced my phone with my computer and was
able to delete the broken Dropbox and get an earlier version off
my computer.
Perhaps someone who uses automatic updates can address your issue

Re: App updates not working

2015-09-17 Thread Kimber Gardner
I had a similar problem a couple weeks ago. Once I reset my network
settings everything worked fine. Go into settings, general, reset then
double tap reset network settings. You will have to re-enter the
password for whatever wifi you're using, so make sure you have the
password before performing the reset.

App updates not working

2015-09-17 Thread rhs
Hi,

The icon for the App Store tells me I have 8 apps to update. I open the App
Store and select the updates tab. I press the button to update all apps. It
says that apps are downloading but they never get downloaded.

Is anyone else having trouble with the App Store? Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Re: app updates

I think the setting you want to change is under settings, general,
background app refresh. Turn it off. Otherwise, they will update
automatically in the background.

Hi,
The setting you want is under Settings>iTunes and App Store. Go down to the
section with the heading, "Audomatic Downloads." Turn Updates off. The App
Store updates tab should then function as it did in prior versions of iOS.
Unless you had a backup of the app on your computer, it's unfortunately too
late as far as I know.

Re: Discrepency Between Home Screen App Updates And What's Reported In The App

2013-10-17 Thread Eileens Misrahi
Hello,

Thanks for taking the time to check this out. I didn't think to check all of my
purchased apps to see if some were only for iOS 7. This does make sense. I am
in no rush to update, so I'll have to put this bug aside until I do.

Thanks again for the explanations.

Cheers,
Eileen

Re: Discrepency Between Home Screen App Updates And What's Reported In The App

2013-10-17 Thread Chris Chaffin

Hello all,
What you say Wayne is true.
I am still running iOS 6. I noticed that I always had the number 8 beside
the App Store on my home screen, but when I go into the app store to do an
update, it would say all of my apps are up to date.

So I decided to do some investigating.

I went into the purchased area in the app store, and started going through
all of the apps I have purchased. Sometimes I would come to one which had
an update button. When I double tapped on it, it would give me a pop up
screen, and it informed me that I was not able to download this update since
I was not running iOS 7.

It seems that some developers have chosen to restrict their updates to those
just running iOS 7. There could be a very good reason for this, I am not
sure.
But nevertheless, for those who are still running iOS 6, if a number appears
beside your app store on your home screen, but when you check, all apps are
up to date, then do not worry, now you know why.

HTH,

Chris Chaffin

I have read of others on lis that say the difference in numbers may be
from some updates being for iOS 7 compatibility, and when you bring up
the updates tab, it sees that you don't run iOS 7. So as a result you
see a lower number. If true, I don't know if there is a good way to
fix this, other than you updating to iOS 7 that is.

Re: getting app updates on iphone 4 and ipad 2

2013-08-01 Thread sffmusic
 Hi Larry,

I’ve had that problem on my iPhone 4S a couple of times. I corrected it by
first restarting the phone, connecting it to my PC, and opening iTunes. I
did not try to sync the phone. I waited about thirty seconds and
disconnected the phone. When I opened the app store on my phone again, the
updates displayed normally. I hope this helps.

getting app updates on iphone 4 and ipad 2

2013-07-28 Thread Larry Lumpkin
I got around the problem by doing the following:
1. From the update screen, chose "purchased" tab.
2. Chose "all" and went through all my purchases until I found one that said
"update".
3. pressed the update button on those and they seem to roll onto the device
all right.

The App Store still comes up in the update screen but never displays "all apps
ared up to date".

Re: A couple of app updates I personally have

2013-07-03 Thread Jonathan Mosen
Hi Matthew, good question. I think Zello's public channels are really good. I
have found though that sometimes when I've used Zello, I can lock the phone and
find that I've missed notifications because Zello has routed all system sounds
through the earpiece. It was a while ago that i gave up on it for this reason,
so maybe that's been addressed now.

Voxer's just elegant and it works, and it seems a lot more people are active on
it for one to one communication.

Hi Jonathan,

I would be interested in why you prefer Voxer to Zello?

Hi Chris, there was a bug with the Voxer app that prevented people from
trying the pro service. At first I thought it was an accessibility
issue, but it seems it was broken for everyone. They have released
another update, and you can upgrade to pro now. If you do it I'd be
interested if you think it's worth it.

Voxer is in my view the best of all these walkie talkie apps so I'm
considering it.

In the app store today were two updates. One for Bbc News and the other
for Voxer.
In the Bbc news app you can now get push notifications for breaking
news. From what I am hearing I will get more breaking news than I do on
the Sky News app, which some days I don't get any breaking news at all.
Not saying it's bad; just comparing. The sound used is I think a little
clip of the jingle used in the Bbc News channel.
As for Voxer, one can now upgrade or at least try Voxer Pro. But I have
a problem with this.
When I double tap on enjoy Voxer Pro, nothing happens. Any ideas? Wanted
to try the extreme notifications feature.
Anyway just thought I would share my observations with the app updates I
personally received today.
