Welcome Theron, both to the board and to the quiet sport. You've picked a
good subject (one that many on this board will pipe in with suggestions for),
and a good time to be asking it. The hike-in lakes are awesome right now
(though a bit low on the water level).

Yep, went this morning. Only picked up 6, but still an awful lot
of fun. (I even picked up an 11" 'bow! - but I guess it could
have been a steelhead smolt, but it looked an aweful lot like a 'bow)
Gonna hit the Sky tomorrow morning early Whoo hoo!!

I hope you got up this morning (but I didn't see you if you were at the I-5). Fish

the flies pretty deep. Heavily weighted flies and sinking line were the ticket.
Dumbbell headed flies (small) were

Vincent,
Try this link: http://www.vtrail.com/hotsprings.html. The one
in Snoqualmie is called Scenic Hot Springs, and isn't too bad. A
bit tricky to get on to the main trail, but a very doable 2 mile hike.
The springs have been contained in a pretty elaborate series of "hot-tubs"

Good luck!

Tim,
Hearing your story about hooking lots of fish, then losing a big one while
nymphing reminds me of a tip I learned from another fisherman: After you've
caught 4-5 fish, nip off 4-6 of tippet and re-tie on your fly. Same goes for
the dropper. Since you're fishing a nymph deep on the Yak,

Eric,
re. The Good: WELL DONE! While you never indicated what species and size the
fish was that you hooked (not sure if you got it close enough for a good look),
or if you had indeed fair hooked it, I think you did very well in keeping him on
for as long as you did. My post about how to

I've heard that from more than one source. I wonder what Simms, Orvis, Dan Bailey and
Patagonia would say about that, though. Would rubbing alcohol
void their warranties? Any reps out there on the board care to chime in?

As far as Whitefish, might give the upper Green a go with small beadheads.
Chartreuse and hot pink are good bets for patterns as well as any small

Thanks, Keith. I'm a neophyte pontooner and like to stick to the simple,
safe stuff. I, too, have heard about the dangers of the Sultan. Looks like
a placid little creek, but I understand it can be a killer. I'll try
wading. If it gets anymore difficult than that, I'll head home! Whitefish
My wife and I are going to Los Cabos in Feb. We'll be doing the budget
trip, so I'm wondering if there's any good fishing to be had WITHOUT a
guide and without having to go way out on a boat (read: surf casting alone).
Any insight?

Michael and John,
I can only speak for a few trips that I've done with industry help. 3 years

of it on a trip to south island NZ for some stellar trout fishing. I went
