in early to avoid the crowds than there used to be, but you have the advantage
of being an hour away and enjoying Mount Airy
Dan Roebuck, who co-starred with Andy Griffith on Matlock returns to Mount Airy
after his first Mayberry Days last year to premiere his latest movie "Lucky
Louie" on Thursday, April 27th at 7:00 p.m. at the historic Earle Theatre.
He will be available for Q following the movie.

The dust has settled on another WBMUTBB Silent Auction and it was our biggest
year with a total of $6,246 raised for the Surry Arts Council this year. So
many people to thank for their help with donations, assistance, and bidding. We

We had another successful auction thanks to so many of our chapter members and
friends. This year's total was $3,587.50 plus another $871.00 from the Rummage
Sale for a total of $4,458.50 in support of Mayberry Days.
It is always nice when people discover Mayberry Days and get something special

our annual WBMUTBB service project is coming up. After 20 silent auctions, we
had a successful live auction at the Blackmon Amphitheatre thanks to Eric
Lowery's talents and will do that again this year. We have another

one you want to watch with a group of TAGS friends who will pick up on the
little things from the episodes. Allan is as good an actor as he is a barber!

I was in New Orleans last week for a conference and had a couple good Mayberry
connections.
We had dinner at Antoine's and it has photos of famous people who had eaten
there (plus Sazerac, Baked Alaska, and escargot on the menu). My friend found
the Don Knotts autographed Barney Fife picture.
I recently met a guy who used to work for WRAL, the CBS affiliate in Raleigh.
We were talking TAGS and he said back in the 80's he was working in their
promotions department and one of his jobs was to spend hours a day watching
TAGS to pull clips for special commercials they would run before

Good news for Clint Howard but not as much for Mayberry Days. He was called to
be on location for a new movie which will conflict with his plans to come to
Mount Airy. He regrets not being able to attend this year but looks forward to
returning again.

silent auction at Mayberry Days another successful event. The total this year
was $3,703.25 (almost $500 more than last year). We had 94 items from 23
different WBMUTBB members who donated items and 11 volunteers,
We are but a few weeks away from Mayberry Days. The lineup of special guests is
impressive with two new stars, Barbara Eden and Clint Howard, attending this
year. They are scheduled to appear at both the Matinee and Evening shows for
Colonel Tim's Talent Time, hosted by WBMUTBB members David
I failed to note that Bruce Bilson directed Barbara Eden in the movie
"Chattanooga Choo Choo". On Thursday at 9pm (after "The Emmett" dinner at Cross
Creek), he will discuss his experience directing the movie as well as directing
Barbara in episodes of the television series Harper Valley PTA.
