Re: [WISPA] Billing Solution
Keep in mind that Authorize.net is not a processor. They’re a gateway. If you sign with them directly they put you with a processor and get residuals. The processor is usually Flagship (ugh) but I’ve seen others. You can continue to use Authorize.net as your gateway with almost any processor. We also switched from another processor to IPpay a few years ago. They have been great. Support is a live person on the first call. The account reps are equally responsive. We still have authorize.net connected with IPpay due to some of our software requiring it. But all of the actual processing and funding goes through IPpay. Agreed with Bruce. All customer notifications should come from your billing system. Keep in mind that you’re saying that a car and a house should do the same thing. Merchant Processors (IPpay, Flagship, Priority Payments, First Data, etc) are different than payment gateways (Authorize.net, Stripe, Clover, etc). It makes it more complicated when your processor also provides gateway services. But most do not. If you need a contact at IPpay I’d be happy to share mine. We refer our new resellers to IPpay all the time and have never been disappointed. Well that’s what I mean. I need to look at everything when we go to make our change. Just looking at the surface it’s like $58/month. If it’s several hundred I’ll probably move everything. 2.6% vs 2.9%. Plus stripe doesn’t have 10,000 fees Compliance fees Government fees PCI fees Parking lot restriping fees We are about to re do our entire billing system. Do not write credit card anything on paper. Plus they charged me for the transaction including a fee so a $50 loss became a $135 bill. With service like that, who needs them? I went to a double entry system, write all transactions manually on paper and used the Wispmon.com (which can use IPPay too) and they keep records in their database. They are now known as https://sonar.software/ . They have a fully WISP centered system with maps, ticketing, sales, FCC registering, fresnel testing, parts inventory, parts sales and too much more to list here. We use stripe and ippay in our network. Hands down I prefer Stripe. IPPay gets the job done - but it is cumbersome, not flexible and requires a root canal and DNA check to get setup. > On Feb 3, 2018, at 11:46, ralph wrote: > > I will tell you my issue with IP Pay. > > We aren’t large. Re: [WISPA] Billing Solution
Lots to discuss on that subject, more features and pro's and cons to list. To boil it all down in my experience there are really two worth looking at. 1. Sonar 2. Powercode In the past I would say Sonar since Powercode development slowed considerably. But recently they have really stepped up their development. I am quite impressed with Sonar and its parent/child ticketing system and its monitoring system. Look at both careful, dig in deep even run a few trial's both are very inexpensive to turn up quickly and see what one best suits you and your business model. One thing I can say for sure, it's not worth doing business without one of these. Both will make you money hands down one way or another if you take the time to learn it and use it. The time investment will pay off and you will spend less time managing your network and your business. None of these are turn key, they will take an investment to learn and configure to suit your business but it's worth every minute. -Original Message- From: wireless-boun...@wispa.org [mailto:wireless-boun...@wispa.org] On Behalf Of Brian Rohrbacher Sent: Tuesday, January 16, 2018 7:22 AM To: Conversations over a new WISP Trade Organization Subject: [WISPA] Billing Solution What do we got out there for billing solutions? Re: [WISPA] Billing Solution
We are struggling with Powercode's support for a procera BMU. It has basic support for the procera firmware that is from 2015 but the beta support for the 2017 stuff is way to buggy to use. No way to use content filtering... too limited support for it. I am glad to see they are branching out to use MT. Sonar has good support for both Procera and MT... Also Sonar does not require central control. Something to think about depending on how your network is. I imagine it's for new customers or customers stuck in their ways. Everyone else running Powercode is already running the BMU and spending their time on other things instead of replacing what's already working. We use Azotel. It doesn't look the prettiest with the user interface but it has tons of features and is very reliable. They host it in the cloud and do all the backups, etc. In 6 years we've had maybe 30 minutes of downtime. On Jan 17, 2018 1:11 PM, "Alan Luelf" wrote: > We use Sonar. What do we got out there for billing solutions? My current one is not working out. I've been using Freeside for a number of years now and I liked it but they don't have any support staff left and seem to be falling apart. I've been constantly requesting an SSL renewal for 45 days and they just can't get it done. It's beyond frustrating, time consuming and embarrassing try to explain to hundreds of customers why my payment site is not secure. I can't take it anymore. I need some recommendations on whats out there. I want good support. I need a solution with support. What's everybody using? What do you like and dislike about it?
