A face plate is only like .25 unless you add a ring. What I do, quite a bit, is I drill under the based board. I pull the carpet back away from and under the baseboard and usually you will find a space between 1/4 and 1/2 there. Thats where I drill. No holes exposed and the carpet just tucks

We strap the conduit to the tower, junction boxes only where needed to drop cable out for equipment. Normally just at the top To handle the weight of the cable on itself, we bundle the cable on the ground with 1 or 2 separate pull strings that are wound around the cable and taped every 5 feet.
