) Regarding partitioning, my poor understanding becomes poorer.
Given all the guarantees of ordering and whatnot that ZK already has
to enforce, feels like it shouldn't be significantly harder to batch
things together, but I don't have enough understanding to say anything
here to be honest.

I've added a link to the email thread to ZOOKEEPER-723 [1].
I've also created a new JIRA for the approach I've suggested
ZOOKEEPER-834 [2] I will try to provide a patch after I finish my GSoC
assignment.
