If what Mike says is true, you could accomplish the same effect by
increasing the throttle opening per inch of pedal travel. I think what he
is saying is that the throttle body was not a single point of flow-limit on
the engine. I don't know much about the characteristics of this engine
despite driving one for the last decade, but I do understand that you
sometimes have to change a few things at once to see an improvement because
the damned engine designers balanced everything out so well.

As an example of how things can go, I once had an '83 Mazda RX-7. You could
gain 20hp or more EASILY by bolting on an aftermarket exhaust.  I did this;
it took me an afternoon of swearing and waiting for penetrating oil to do
its job, but at the end I had a dramatic change in performance. After you
had done that, you could gain another 20 or 30 by swapping the intake
system. To get more than that, you had to get into changing the port shapes
and timing (since rotaries don't have cams, port timing changes meant you
had to preferentially grind bottom or top of the port). By doing all of
these, you could increase (without significant loss in driveability)
horsepower from 105 to 125 to 150 to 200. Doing upgrades to increase
performance requires an understanding of exactly what it makes sense to do,
and what is going to get you the best performance for your dollar.

I believe different and have almost spun the tires just hitting the
throttle.
I also have the JWT ECU and regular bolt ons, but, the response is better
and will be a nice addition once the motor is rebuilt and prepped. High
compression with billet rods will make the revs extend past the 7500 mark.
Although the JWT takes the rev limiter off, I am not putting it to the
redline because the rods will fly out!
Thanks for the input Mike, it is appreciated.
