There are different strengths of lugol's. I think the one you got is 5 drops is equivalent to 1 tablet of iodoral. One tablet of iodoral has 12.5mg total iodine.
Dr. Brownstein used to recommend 12.5 mg iodinea day for healthy people as general maintenance. I heard he has increase this number to 50mg now and to 200 to 300mg for people with cancer. It detoxes bromide and fluoride so you have to work up the dose. I am getting detox reactions with iodine right now also.
