Hi Sol,

sorry to hear this. It's a constant struggle battling candida I've been there,
too and continue to do so at times. But one thing that might help a lot isLily
of the desert Aloe Vera Gel. The reason is that aloe itself has healing
properties for the tissues and is also cooling, but also the potassium sorbate
that's used as a preservative is also itself effective against candida. The
gel will stay with you longer than the juice and if you take about two Tbsp
after each meal (you can take up to 1/2 cup) you may find it makes a big
difference.

My allergist at Stanford (many years ago) had me taking potassium sorbate
straight. In those days, you could buy it in health food stores. People were
taking it for candida.

I think you may be happy with the aloe gel, though.

I believe I have Candida, have been trying to get rid of it for about as
long as I have known about CS. Began serious use of CS for that purpose,
among others. The whole complex of symptoms of long standing severe
intestinal candida do fit me very well. I have not only the direct GI
symptoms, but the poor resistance, the joint problems, arthritis,
depression, lack of concentration, etc. All of these have improved, but
none is "cured" by any stretch. Certainly the course of this cold shows
me that 2 years plus of EIS (CS) use has not improved or strengthened my
immune system whatsoever. For me EIS works by killing pathogens, and
speeding wound healing, but that is it. No immune improvement. Once the
darn bugs get in, they take time to eradicate. However, bacterial
secondary infections are no longer a threat, thank god. Prior to EIS,
those were the real danger and the things that made me very ill indeed
for months on end of every year. Then I'd end up with conventional abx,
followed by a series of yeast infections, further lessened resistance to
the next cold or flu......it was a real vicioius circle.

My experience in the past 2 years led me to believe and to say that I
couldn't see CS(EIS) making candida worse, but it happened that during
this cold when I was taking a quart or more per day, faithfully every
day, a few days ago I began to have early symptoms of a typical female
yeast infection. So as it also didn't seem to be doing anything for the
cold (the EIS I was drinking, I mean) I cut back my daily intake of
oral EIS. Since CS has been shown to kill candida very quickly in test
tube tests, it is hard to know how this could happen. Speculation:
perhaps it kills bacteria in the body faster than it kills yeasts and
fungi in the body, thus actually removing a check on the candida. Also
with real overgrowth intestinal candida, it is often said it becomes a
very different organism than the normal intestinal inhabitant yeast
cells. Maybe that form is much more difficult to kill than regular old
candida yeast in a test tube. Certainly, I have made improvement over
the last two years of EIS use, but am not free of intestinal symptoms
yet. One reason probably because EIS is said not to get into the
intestines in liquid form, so it can't do a very good job of killing
candida there in any case. Perhaps also EIS in the blood just does not
get at the places where candida hides in the intestinal wall well
either, so---no good contact with the pathogen by any route.

At the suggestion of someone on this list, (sorry I've forgotten who) I
was going to try using a mix of EIS/DMSO over the abdomen, to see if
that would get the EIS into the intestinal walls and tissues enough to
help, but my sensitivity to DMSO is great--can't really tolerate more
than a 20% solution. And I also found I get the characteristic DMSO body
odor very badly even from that. I have now finally gotten some of the
low odor DMSO from Jacob Labs, and was about to try it, when this cold
interrupted everything.

I thank everyone for their thoughts, suggestions, and contributions, as
well as having patience in letting me work through this cold and what is
going on by putting it all in emails here. It is really hard to remember
all the details and explain them all in just one or two emails.

BTW, Sally, the GSE seems to have knocked out the yeast infection
symptoms already. (and I only took it orally :-) ).
