Yes, supposedly in Panther the problematic Apple Mail Server (have a look
at the macos-x-server mailing list archive) will be replaced with postfix
and (IIRC) Courier IMAP. Presumably Apple will put a pretty GUI on top of
them for administration. Unless you need OS X Server for other things (AFS,
Netboot, etc.), though, it seems like a huge waste of money just to get a
pretty GUI for freely available software.
