It depends on what else is going on on the mailserver. One thing I've found is that if an OS X app (like MacjordomoX) tries to connect to a TCP/IP app (like SIMS) on the same mac, it will cause a Kernel Panic. I haven't tested this recently, but I haven't heard it was fixed, either.
