I decided, while there was some life in my PowerBook, to clone the hard drive
contents to an external drive. I bought a WD 500 Gb external drive and
formatted it using my iMac (setting the format to Mac OS Extended). So far so
good, and the drive showed up on my iMac. I then attached it to my PowerBook
and found that the drive was not recognised. I tried both USB ports but to no
avail. Using Disk Utility on the PowerBook I could see the WD drive but there
was no option to erase and reformat the drive from the PowerBook.

Is it me? Or are the Mac Gods turning against me? Any suggestions gratefully
received.

Martin
