Only talking for myself, not for Gaetan, of course, but: yes, this doesn't 
change the problem for me, I just tried that out. i.e., when I remove the 
ethernet cable from the plug, it won't boot either in the first round, but if 
I replug the cable quickly after the first failed boot, there's no problem 
getting into the BIOS loader / the operating system (most of the time; I had 
it twice now that I had to replug the cable a second time, but that was the 
maximum number of times I had to powercycle so far).

My system is connected to a 100 Mbps switch anyway. The respective switch is 
some no-name whatever equipment, but I should guess it doesn't have any 
influence on the box when the cable is unplugged. ;-)
