That's my experience from a recent purchase: specified for sampling at 96 kc. Works fine, but line-in is still limited to 24 kc. I think - although I can't proof it - that the card samples with 48 kc and does some doubling in the driver. I returned the card and had a refund. This is tempting for the producers: people request hi sampling rates and low noise. If they still limit the line-in to 24 kc there is less noise. So everything is fine unless these nasty people like us show up. Walter
