Honestly I would love to see Max being killed as well...not because I hate Max, but because it will show how much AD don't care about customers but only about money and profit...
There are A LOT of people currently using Max, so there is a big difference between forcing a relative small amount of people ( ex-Softimage users ) to switch to Maya, instead of a large group of people, from game devs to archviz designers...well....in the end....
