had a feeling he was going to regret trying them out. "Well, it seemed
like the fastest way to get out and see the universe. Starfleet offers
so many possibilities. If I had stayed at home, I would probably had to
become a diplomat like my sister. It was not something I was really
interested in."
She shrugged. "Well, Starfleet is better off for having you," she smiled
with a little wink. "And have you seen the universe?" An old American
song about the days when ocean-going navies ruled the world was: 'I
joined the Navy to see the world. What did I see? I saw the sea.' She
had never seen much difference from then, with an ocean of water, to now,
with an ocean of stars.
"I have not seen nearly as much as I thought I would since I have ended up in JSOC and, now, Special Operations, but I definitely have gotten to see quite a bit more than if I had stayed on my homeworld. It really is beautiful, but I have to admit that I find living in underwater communities less than exciting. Do you know much about my homeworld?" he asked.
