"It is ... different," he responded to her first question. "My people have a dual respiratory system that allows us to breath like must humanoids, but we also have the ability to breath through our gills." To emphasized the fact, he leaned back his head and pulled back the flap that covered one of the gills in his neck.

She blinked, surprised, but also fascinated. She leaned forward a little to see. "I've seen pictures, but... wow." She was impressed, and it took a lot to impress her.

"As for our architecture, it is largely built out of natural coral. Engineers long ago learned how to encourage coral growth in a manner that allowed my people to 'train' the coral to a desired form. I think the closest thing that comes to mind would be the spires of castles I have heard about in many of Earth's old style fairy tales. In recent years, many of our cities that are below the ocean have started to build domes so more people from other worlds can visit easily."

Her mind was amazed at how beautiful that must be. She'd never had a 'vacation,' so the only travelling she had done was business-related. Given her 'business,' she hadn't exactly been to the garden sports of the galaxy. "I can't imagine," she said, imagining the corals and reef fish that must inhabit their cities. Katya loved gardens, but what he was describing would be like your house itself being a garden, a living thing full of color and life.

"We also have some smaller cities on some of the larger islands that are spotted across the planet."

"For the tourists?" she speculated.

"How do people, air-breathers, see your cities outside the domes? I know an air mask, of course, but what about buoancy? I would imagine your people have swim bladders or something like it to self-regulate your buoancy, but if say, I, were to visit, and you were to show me around, would I have to have flippers and a weight belt, or what?" She wasn't sure what she was implying by that, but she had already decided that it was time to stop thining and simple be a normal person, or at least as normal as she could be that night.

only beginning them is either extremely wise or extremely foolish;
no matter which is true, he is certainly an unhappy man, for he
has put a knife in the heart of wonder."
