"Probably not as often as I should. My brother LA is the only one with
children. He and his wife have a pair of twins who are in the
teens. Since both parents are serving in Starfleet, I don't get to see
them unless we are all in the same location at the same time."

"That'sss a shame," said T'r'Lawsh.

"I have found that while I enjoy spending time with them, it is often just
as nice to see them leave at the end."

That made the Caitian laugh outloud, a sound mingled with a purring
noise. "Isssn't that jussst rrright! I love my kin, but I'm glad to give
them back sssometimesss. The olderrr onesss jussst about drrrive me into
bankrrruptcy! I neverrr knew anyone needed ssso many clothesss
and musssic chipsss. And food! You would think theirrr parrrentsss kept
them locked up in the cellarrr with only brrread and waterrr!"

Daphne joined her partner in laughter. "That would be the day! I think they just
take any excuse to try and get the things that they would like. It is nice having
them to visit, though."

As the meal came, Tr'Lawsh was still chuckling, the purring sound softer,
but still present. It was a soothing sound, and although some of the
people around them noticed and glanced over, they seemed to start smiling
more and relaxing just from hearing it. "It hasss been ssso nice to be
able to talk with sssomeone who underrrssstandss. Malesss can be ssso
harrrd-headed sssometimesss, and the Klingonsss... Well, they arrren't
exactly the "touchy-feely" typesss we Caitiansss arrre. Thank you," she
said, reaching over and touching Daphne's hand.

Daphne nodded her head. "Somehow, 'touchy feely' is not the term that comes to mind
when I think of Klingons. They are great to party with, but they are not known for
being overly emotional," she said with a smile. "It is nice getting to talk to
someone who feels the same way."

Daphne was surprised at how soft the Tr'Lawsh's fur was. She had never felt the fur
of a Caitian. Somehow, running up to one of them and rubbing their neck was probably
something they would not take kindly to. She could feel the pads of Tr'Lawsh's palm
and fingers through the fur. It was a consoling touch. "Do you find that you are
alone sometimes with our choice of career?"

(Tr'Lawsh?)
