>Daphne was surprised at how soft the Tr'Lawsh's fur was.  She had never
>felt the fur of a Caitian.  Somehow, running up to one of them and rubbing
>their neck was probably something they would not take kindly to.  She
>could feel the pads of Tr'Lawsh's palm and fingers through the fur.  It
>was a consoling touch.  "Do you find that you are alone sometimes with our
>choice of career?"

Tr'Lawsh withdrew her hand as the meals were placed before them, and put
her napkin on her lap.  "Yesss.  But I don't think it is as bad forrr
me.  Mossst of the time, I am on Cait.  I can sssee my family and
frrriendss wheneverrr I want.  My love life isss perrrpetually in the
latrrrine, but I find matesss when it isss time."  The Caitian heat cycle
was irresistable for Caitian males, and even human males were not
immune.  "I wish I had a perrrmanent mate, though," she sighed.  "And you?"

Daphne's background was similar.  Serving as an undercover agent on other worlds was not exactly conducive to romance.  "Things could be better in that department," she replied with a laugh.  "It has just not been the priority with my career.  Perhaps, things will change now that I have a desk job."  Daphne picked up a fork to sample her meal.

(Tr'Lawsh?)
