>"My suspicisions are the Bajoran Ambassador. He has his hands in many
>things, and the list of those that owe him or are otherwise indebted to
>him is a very impressive list. This list includes other ambassadors to
>the Federation Council, local planetary governmental officials, Federation
>Judges, and even Starfleet Admirals. Some of them you may know like Rear
>Admirals Zorin, Reyla, and Van Der Loo."

"I am awarrre of those beings," said Kit, putting together a lot of pieces
in her mind. "And theirrr involvement in otherrr affairrrs detrrrimental
to Starrrfleet and the Federrration."

>"Admiral, there is something else. While I am far from proving anything,
>I have a bad feeling about the connection between Admiral Kyle Kettering,
>the Commander of 9th Fleet, and the Bajoran Ambassador. There is
>something there, but I just can't put my finger on it. My gut tells me
>that it's nothing overt, but something far more shadowy. Now if Kettering
>is involved, what the CinC's brother? The number 2 in the chain of
>command at 9th fleet..."

Could she trust this human? Lasiter the younger would most certainly be
eliminated if his true feelings about Kettering were known. And she knew
nothing about this human, kin of the human involved. No, not yet. Lasiter
may have started down Kettering's path, but he had doubts, and they needed
him. Better to be safe. "Ketterrring's name has come up farrr too often
in my own inforrrmation forrr comforrrt, but I have not hearrrd Lasiterrr's
name attached to it, at least not yet. Ketterrring may be keeping him in
the darrrk forrr fearrr he might talk to his brrrotherr, howeverrr cold
that family rrrelationship may seem on the outside. Let us stick to facts,
Commanderrr, not speculation."

"Of course, Admiral.", he said feeling slightly embarassed. He did not intend
to come across as putting too much weight on supposition and rumor, but he had
to lay down all of the cards to Kitanya for her to be able to make the best
recommendation...

"Let me play devil's advocate forrr a moment, and please, do not think that
I am belittling the worrrk you have done on this, which is
outstanding. But these people arrre high-rrranking officerrrs and
officials. Any attack on them must be made with harrrd, cold,
evidence. Historrry has shown that anything else will almost cerrrtainly
meet with the demise of those who brrrought the charrrges. So, tell me
yourrr evidence so farrr. Show me the facts. Tell me what dirrrection you
would like to go in next, and I will help you in whateverrr way I can, if
it is rrreasonable." That last sentence sounded politic, and she hated
herself for that, but it was necessary. He was young and eager, and might
step blindly into a hornets's nexst if he wasn't careful.

"Let me begin with the hard proven facts. I have 2 undercover operatives that
are currently within the smuggling organization that RAdm. Zorin runs. They
have have been tracking shipments, buyers, and payments for months. With their
information I have quietly arrested 4 mid-level members of the organization,
and have convinced them to gather information for me in exchange for a walk on
anything that they confess to as part fo the organization. Before nicking
these upstanding citizens, I did my homework to be sure that they hadn't
committed crimes that involving loss of life, maiming, or anything serious
along those lines. With their testimony, and that of my undercover operatives,
I am about to arrest 10 Starfleet officers. They are at a high enough level to
give me RAdm. Zorin. The high level suspects also have information that I can
use against certain members of the Bajoran Ambassador's inner circle. Station
Security also has an informant that I may be able to use, if Commander K'Tael
will allow it. That contact, as I understand it, will be able to outline the
entire operation that RAdm. Zorin operates and about his relationship with the
Bajoran Ambassador. We are talking about direct knowledge, not knowledge by
inference. I want to move on these people, but if I do I risk tipping off
some big fish in other crimes because of the network of connections."
