>"Let me begin with the hard proven facts. I have 2 undercover operatives
>that are currently within the smuggling organization that RAdm. Zorin
>runs. They have have been tracking shipments, buyers, and payments for
>months. With their information I have quietly arrested 4 mid-level
>members of the organization, and have convinced them to gather information
>for me in exchange for a walk on anything that they confess to as part fo
>the organization. Before nicking these upstanding citizens, I did my
>homework to be sure that they hadn't committed crimes that involving loss
>of life, maiming, or anything serious along those lines. With their
>testimony, and that of my undercover operatives, I am about to arrest 10
>Starfleet officers. They are at a high enough level to give me RAdm.
>Zorin. The high level suspects also have information that I can use
>against certain members of the Bajoran Ambassador's inner circle. Station
>Security also has an informant that I may be able to use, if Commander
>K'Tael will allow it. That contact, as I understand it, will be able to
>outline the entire operation that RAdm. Zorin operates and about his
>relationship with the Bajoran Ambassador. We are talking about direct
>knowledge, not knowledge by inference. I want to move on these people,
>but if I do I risk tipping off some big fish in other crimes because of
>the network of connections."

She nodded. "A dangerrrous game, with dangerrrous prrrey." Her eyes
looked concerned, like she wasn't going to let him go forward, that she had
indeed become a desk-sitting pencil-pusher with a spine of jelly. Then she
smiled, a feral, cunning, wicked smile that could only be replicated by a
highly evolved carnivore hungry for a kill. "The best kind of prrrey
therrre is. Keep at it, Commanderrr! Give me twenty-fourrr hourrrs and I
will tell you whetherrr you should go forrr the quick take, orrr leave the
hook in the waterrr a little longerrr and trrry forrr the biggest
fish." She would be his mouthpiece to Lasiter, to protect his involvement.

"Thank you, Admiral. How shall I contact you?"

"I will find you tomorrrow. Don't come herrre again." She regarded him,
had a good feeling about him. "Stay safe, Mrrr. Garrribaldi. Morrre than
one young officerrr has disappearrred rrrecently. I'd rrratherr not add
yourrr name to the list."

"I'm right with you, M'am. Again, thank you."

{response, if any}

With that he took his leave. Returning to his work.
