I would say that you can do 0.10 if you talk to the AHj, show twice the
water of 13R, and show that it still doesn't require heads under garage
door. What happens to your OH I with the door up. Remember this is still a
13R system with areas outside of the unit meeting some of 13, but not all.

How can I use .10 for parking when 6.8.2.2(5) refers us to 13 and then we
have to go .15 gpm?

Thank you,

13R Garages are covered in 6.8.3 and 6.8.3.2 Says that garages accessible
from more than 1 dwelling unit (you say 2) (Are they considered separate
buildings per 6.8.3.1) if not, protect in accordance with 6.8.2 Are you less
than 500Sf total area in garage Are you 130Sf or less per head coverage Are
you using QR heads (6.8.2.3 does not list garages as appropriate for res.
Heads) Are you flowing 0.10 Gpm/Sf (Openings to outside of building /unit
are not limited by 50 Sf unless it's to another protected area, such as a
corridor or protected exterior
walkway.)

Say yes to the above and design 4 heads 0.10 Gpm/Sf. (You may still ignore
the garage door per 6.8.3.2)

Subject: 13r carport

I need a quick opinion from some 13R experts.

13r condo with the first floor divided in half front to back and then the
front half is divided into 4 parking areas seperated by fire walls. The
front wall is completely open and each garage serves 2 units.

6.8.2.2 states that each compartment can nothave openings greater than 50
sq.ft. I am interpreting this to mean openings into adjacent compartments
not to the atmosphere and therefore a 4 head calc would be appropriate using
dry heads flowing in accordance with NFPA 13R.

Thoughts please...
