dear oh dear

as a cultural roman catholic dragged up in the 'latin church' i am just old enough to have learnt mass in latin it is a thing about power .. there are all these people who have had their ability to enjoy life robbed from them
and it is not a small number
you have ask why did all these "kiddie fiddlers" join closed communities that gave them access to innocents

and why if there was an issue they just got moved from parish to parish to continue in their immature practices

why people have had to live their lives condemned to suffering a guilt while the persons who violated them continue quite happily protected by the church

and the status quo

i think that is what people are indignant about
some people are strange and lets say unhealthy but an institution that would rather protect their abuse upon choir boys than regulate
that behaviour and punish it is just absurd

how anyone can support it is beyond me

i am all for the church as a thing that can bring the community together but if they would rather turn a blind eye to perpetrators

and predators with in their ranks than admit the lifestyle they offer attracts those who are deviant

i don't think it is so much that some priests were odd and did awful things i think it is that they are protected

and their behaviour is hidden and they aren't educated and told that it is morally wrong to take advantage of a young person

instead of being censored theyaremove to a new parish with lots of fresh opportunities

and they hope that no one ad heard of their complusions

outside the church they would have had to face up to their 'stuff' and grow up

i have two thoughts

a. how must it feel to a victim [to be forever unsafe ]

b. and how must it feel to a perpetrator [to be forever safe ]

frankly it is unconscionable

some one said something about it wasn't so bad cause they were adolescents

to my mind that is even worse ...... an adult can destroy any prospect for a happy life

in one act of self indulgence and to be able to just move on

it is just plain icky

Besides, the Continental Congress and the army under George Washington tried to gain the friendship of Canadian Catholics. Somehow, that doesn't sound so threatening.

It's more likely that the founders were concerned about the political affiliation of Canadian Catholics than their religion as you suggest.

But even if the founders were anti-Catholic, that itch you scratch doesn't bother Catholics that much. They'd probably just pray for you.

That doesn't exactly narrow things down.

Three of the founders were Catholic, so they couldn't have been too worried about Canadian Catholics.
