are "Mach V" processor cards and are not supported unless you specifically
have a "Mach V" motherboard. Is this correct? Thanks.

Something like 50% speed advantage over a single processor running at the
same speed -- but only if the application were specifically designed to
exploit the MP architecture. There were about 30 of these (including the
Finder, amazingly), almost all geared towards illustration and 3D design.

The downside is that non-MP-aware apps would run 5 - 15% slower in a
dual-processor configuration. It was a trade-off that made sense for a very
few. I'd put my money on a 300MHz 604e over dual 250MHz 604e's any day.

I do have the original list of MP-aware applications from the 11/98 site
archive; I'll publish that along with a bunch of other stuff before the end
of the year.
