Thanks Bruce and Howie,
From the top I have 1. cdrw, 2. cd rom (Toshiba 12x soon to be an
apple 24x), 3. empty, 4. empty, 5. floppy, 6. IBM 4.5 fast 68 pin
terminated, 7. empty.
The project is to build a fast web server rather than buy something
like a Netfinity etc of which I know little and don't particularly wish
to learn - I intend to buy an SGI image station and a Spectrolino and my
learning curve is headed up already. A guy has offered me five brand new
7200 4.5 gig Seagate or IBM sca drives for 70 quid (100 dollars os so) so
my intention is to softraid several drives and use it as a web server
just with scsi 11 internal - I can always go wider or hard raid with sca
drives if the need arises. And I want to use 4.5's because of the low
profile adapters available - I may be tight for room and more gigs means
bigger adapters.
So I could go with four drives or five if I can use the floppy bay -
anyone tried this? The Pulsar already has two fans - will three be
enough? I could perhaps dispense with the cdrw to give better airflow.
