Hi Phil, Only the last physical device on any SCSI bus should be terminated. Other devices should have the "self-termination" pins/jumpers removed. Given the proper hard drives, that SCSI card will greatly outperform the internal SCSI bus on your S900. (see Jeff Walthers reply) Here's a couple of really good url's that you should peruse... http://www.macworld.com/1999/08/features/scsitable.html and... http://www.macworld.com/1999/08/features/scsi.html Booting from your CDROM drives is another issue altogether I think. Providing you have appropriate drivers, you may want to try the "C" key (which never worked for me), or using the "command/option/shift & delete" keys at startup. That last combination was the only thing that ever allowed me to boot from a CD with both my Matsushita, and my Pioneer CDROM drives. The drivers issue is a big one. An Apple System Install CD that boots wonderfully on an Apple PPC computer may not work on an S900. If the S900 had an Apple ROM'ed CDROM drive it would be fine, but the Matsushita didn't allow that, and who knows whether any given Yamaha drive will work either. Since the CD driver is embedded on the CD being used to boot from, an incompatible drive isn't supported by that same driver, and booting fails. I can't think of a topic that's been discussed more consistently about UMAX Supermacs, than that issue of the Matsushita drive, the drivers required, and the bootability. -Howie -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
