     There are some great bargains around for scsi burners in the pc 
world - old Yamaha 4/2/6 cdrw's go really cheap in the pc auctions - 
similarly with HD's and other scsi devices which are not obviously mac 
but supported by third party software - like NEC, Plextor, Pioneer and 
Traxdata etc.
     An ebay search for 'scsi' items is very interesting....

     Try another burner application to see if the problem is software or 
hardware - charismac.com do a demo of their Discribe 5 cd burning 
software which will allow five free burns. Their list of supported 
devices is here.....
