On Wednesday, January 29, 2003 2:23 PM, D.T. Morse asked: I find myself finally needing a CD burner and I was just wondering if anyone had any good advice. I'm running a Umax C600 with a Sonnet G3 400 card in it. I also have an XLR8/Interex USB card installed. When looking at drives to write CD's I see that almost all of them call for a "built in" USB. Will this be a problem? Any help or advice will be appreciated and helpful as always.
-Doug -- Well, for one thing, I definitely would NOT consider a USB burner. Way to slow. Which leaves a SCSI. I have had good luck with Yamaha external SCSI CD/RW. I don't know what the current price or SofTA is, however. I have an 8816 that has served me well. But I currently use external Firewire burners on a G4. 8x is adequate, but with 16x, life is good. -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
