Forgive my ignorance as I haven't transitioned to OSX yet, but isn't that what Classic mode is for? Or can't you just do your scans in OS9.1, then import the files into OSX? Either way should be cheaper than replacing a functional scanner. Would there be Linux drivers for your scanner similar to Gimp Print for older printers? I'm just asking as these are issues I too may face, especially with my Apple II Laser Printer. Paul C.
