I've been following this thread and thought I might pass on a tip I learned a few years ago when looking for bad solder joints on old all in one Macs. If you can take the case off this thing and still have it working then do so in a darkened room and with luck you will be able to see slight arcing of the electrical current in the place where the dry joints are. Note any that you see and you should be able to re-solder them later after you turn off the power of course.
