There were several times the server/network went down, thanks to the folks who inspired the Dilbert strip.
Out came the modems, connected to the analog phone line that was separate from the internal phone system.
Modemed the pictures and stories to the main office from the bureau.
It will be very easy to set up a modem to modem (between macs) transfer if, let's say, the Internet goes haywire or e-mail is disrupted.
There may be an occasion or two when all of a sudden an analog phone line may be the salvation.
I see my GV modem on the shelf as I type this.
Both our new Apples came with built-in modems - not sure why but there they are.
I remember the days, not long ago, when we made prints in the darkroom and transmitted the prints mounted on a scanner drum.
Or had a regular daily courier who delivered the prints to the pressroom.
