One other immediate improvement. With SM, if I received an email with
a wmv attachment, and double-clicked it, it would not play unless all
SM windows were closed. This is not a problem with FF.
Really? You receive email with FF (Fx actually)? Or are you talking
about when you are logged into your ISP's web mail application?
What I meant was that if I receive an email, using SM as the client,
with a wmv attachment, I do not have to close all instances of FX for
the wmv to play (with Windows Media Player) by double-clicking on the
attachment. If any instances of SM were open, WMP would not play the
wmv. I had to first save it to my hard drive or close all instances
of SM.

Hum, I can confirm this and it only happens with wmv-files, why is that?
Any other file-type (pdf or even other videos like avi) do not result in
this behaviour o_0

What are you using to 'play' the files? Dependent upon your setup, wmv
may play using an application, while the others (pdf etc) are played
using plug-ins.
pdf is handled by Adobe Reader plugin on that machine
That's why I tested with avi, too.
In both cases (wmv & avi) a window with mailbox:///xxxxxx is being opened.
Whilst avi is being opened by VLC, wmv is opened by WMP.
The difference is: VLC opens and plays the file, WMP opens and does not.
It just complains that there is a problem with the url or site or the filetype cannot be
detected "blablabla" (of course it plays that file without problems when opened file-manager)
The plug-in hint was good though. Although both applications open in a separate window
SM's "helper-application" lists "Windws Media Player Plugin Dynamic link library" for
wmv-files. When set to "Windows Media Player" directly it works fine.
Ray, you may want to edit your helper-applictions that way. :-)
BUT last time I was on SM1.1.14 at another PC. I tested this on SM2.0alpha3 here right now
and it behaved the same as SM1.1.14. So I changed the mentioned setting above in SM2.0. I
hope changing the setting in SM1.1.x allows similar results. (my guess: yes)
thanks
Martin
