Well it doesn't require any boot loader.. it's not modifying anything
just simply occupying some space.  I have used it a couple times
(UMSDOS) and it worked fine.. although you wouldn't want to write to
anything in c:\linux from dos or windows or you risk screwing that up.
As root I guess yes you could screw it up since you can mount back to
the FAT partition(s) and would have permission to rm -rf (recursive
delete) files and directories or run linux fdisk or cfdisk etc.. but
that's also something you could do from the c: prompt.

If you're the only user on it and exercise some caution there should be
no trouble.  Make sure a password is set for the root account, and in
general use a 'user' account.. only use root for administration and use
the normal account for regular activities.. this is the general rule of
thumb to stay out of trouble.  And of course you could remove any
potentially dangerous commands or set them non-executable, etc.
