Sorry for the off-topic post--but the depth of knowledge I've encountered on
this list is impressive enough for me to want to post this question to the
list directly.

This is the question: would Windows 3.11 be better suited for my needs than
Win 95? I currently run a Pentium 100mhz box w/16 megs of
RAM. This unit currently has Windows 95 as the primary OS on one
partititon, with DOS on another. I use Windows 95 primarily for web
browsing and some word processing on my Lexmark inkjet printer. I use DOS
for the rest of my needs.

Win95 will constantly swap out to the HD, which is irritating. Still, I am
able to surf the Web and read my email simultaneously. Will I be able to
get better performance using Win 3.11 to perform similar tasks? It would
save me a great deal of disk space, something that is of importance as well.

I don't believe in upgrading if a current OS/software combination will meet
my needs amply. It seems to me that given my current hardware setup, Win
3.XX *might* be a better choice--I just wanted some confirmation from
readers on this list.

Thanks in advance,

David Ball
