Thankyou for all the suggestions, it's wonderful. Unfortunately the
machine, next time I tried to boot, decided it didn't have an operating system?
I'm actively troubleshooting it now, have it down to either a trashed MBR
or bad HDD.
Bad HDD is possible as one of two in it was dodgy before, but it's easier
to run fdisk than to pull it apart and discard the dodgy drive and
reinstall, so soon's I figure out what version of fdisk is held by
openlinux 2.4 and what is the switch to equate with /mbr, I'll try that.
