I wasn't the one directly queried but it seemed a good question.
While Linux is a confuzzling and maniacal system, it nevertheless is a good
system once running. In bench tests against other consumer systems it
generally excells. The security of Linux as a portal to the greater world
of the internet is well known and certainly considered superior to other
contenders for the position.
Accordingly, it seems wise to learn this perplexing language, somehow. How
wonderful it would be to have just one person locally who could
demonstrate, troubleshoot and generally help me over the rough spots so
learning would be about trying and experimenting rather than about banging
my head on a brick wall hoping that the cracks in it will widen.
As there is no such teacher available to me (and I've asked around to be
met with apathy), I am continuing to try and get a machine working out of
the cheap parts I've cobbled together in the last 3 years.
So, why am i trying to install it? Because I think it's a good idea to
learn it.
