Slackware packages are actually called <whatever>.tgz, and they are
tarballs; you can untar them and do whatever you want.  I think they can
contain special scripts to do post-expansion installation stuff, but the
files are all there.

They probably depend on Slackware's directory structure, though, and some of
them will probably expect system startup scripts to be in Slackware's
traditional Unix layout as opposed to a lot of Linux distros that use a more
Linux-specific design.
