I think it has to do with the limited use of TW -- trims and belts and horse bardings -- that's about it. How many bookmarks can you actually use (or give away for xmas)? TW has to have a practical application or it isn't going to have much of a future.

I've made a couple tapestries of dbl weave bands sewn together, but that's an ackward way to go about tapestry weaving, I gotta tell ya. ;-j You can see them at the links below:

If that was true, Linda, then why are your ply-split classes more in demand? The tools needed for that are truly minimal, even compared to tabletweaving! IMHO it's the complexity of tabletweaving that limits its popularity. I've taught both kumihimo and tabletweaving and I'll tell you that people grasp the braiding considerably easier and faster than the tabletweaving. And they
get quicker results to show for their time. Of course, you could blame it
all on the instructor! <g>
